My week started off Monday evening in Pine Bluff at the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff for the Hooten.com Kickoff Classic. The early game pitted the Star City Bulldogs against the Lonoke Jackrabbits. I caught Star City Quarterback Austin White scrambling toward me and captured the great pic above which was published in Tuesday’s Arkansas Democrat Gazette for my first game shot of the 2011 football season. I also shot the late game, but due to space issues, the newspaper was unable to publish it. I did, however also shoot for Arkansas Varsity, which published these shots:
On Tuesday night, I shot two more games, this time at the Buzz Kickoff Classic at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. After reviewing my images from Monday night, I made a few corrections and came up with some decent shots. It’s still early, but I know with more games, I will be in good form. I do feel a lot better about my shooting at this point than compared to last season when I was really unsure about what I was doing. I have grown a tremendous amount as a photographer in that last year and have had a lot of great coaching from some of the best guys & gals in the business. I am very excited about the games ahead and I have great confidence that I will get that one defining image that will make my year.
Here are the two published images from Tuesday night’s games:
